Nicholas R. Atwell

Nicholas R. Atwell, 72, of Old Forge, passed away Friday at Regional Hospital, surrounded by family and friends.

Born on January 5, 1953, in Old Forge, he was the son of the late Robert and Louise Caroccia Atwell.  Nick was a graduate of Old Forge High School’s Class of 1970 and Wilkes College’s Class of 1974. Nick’s career led him to the insurance industry where he achieved his CPCU designation. He eventually retired from the State Unemployment Office in Scranton.

Nick leaves behind a legacy of friendship: from lifelong friends who were more like family, to his golf and bowling buddies, and friends he made at every job, restaurant, and saloon along the way.

Nick is survived by a son, Matthew and his wife, Morgan, Philadelphia, and cousins.

To honor Nick, a Blessing Service will be held on Thursday at 12:00 p.m. at the Louis V. Ciuccio Funeral Home, 145 Moosic Road, Old Forge.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects to Nick at the funeral home on Thursday 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
