Doreen V. Propersi Brown, 71, of Old Forge, died Tuesday at the Regional Hospital, Scranton, surrounded by her family and friends, after a long and courageous battle with muscular dystrophy. She was the wife of Leonard Brown. The couple celebrated their 26 th wedding anniversary.
Born in Old Forge, she was the daughter of the late Biagio and Lena Archangeli Propersi. She was a graduate of Old Forge High School. Doreen had a sincere, dedicated, and active interest in local politics. For 42 years, she was the Old Forge Republican Chairwoman. She also served on the Lackawanna County Republican Executive Committee and was a member of Margery Scranton Council of Republican Women. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish, Old Forge.
Doreen always put family and friends first.
Also surviving are a daughter, Amanda Gallagher and husband Brian, Old Forge, a sister, Rita Propersi, Laguna Woods, CA, two godsons, Gary Propersi, Paul Simonetti, nephews, and cousins.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. from the Louis V. Ciuccio Funeral Home, 145 Moosic Road, Old Forge, followed by an 11:30 a.m. at the Prince of Peace Parish – St. Mary’s Church, 123 West Grace Street, Old Forge, PA. Interment Old Forge Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
