Doreen V. Propersi Brown

Doreen V. Propersi Brown, 71, of Old Forge, died Tuesday at the Regional Hospital, Scranton, surrounded by her family and friends, after a long and courageous battle with muscular dystrophy.  She was the wife of Leonard Brown.  The couple celebrated their 26 ^th wedding anniversary.

Born in Old Forge, she was the daughter of the late Biagio and Lena Archangeli Propersi.  She was a graduate of Old Forge High School.  Doreen had a sincere, dedicated, and active interest in local politics. For 42 years, she was the Old Forge Republican Chairwoman.  She also served on the Lackawanna County Republican Executive Committee and was a member of Margery Scranton Council of Republican Women. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish, Old Forge.

Doreen always put family and friends first.

Also surviving are a daughter, Amanda Gallagher and husband Brian, Old Forge, a sister, Rita Propersi, Laguna Woods, CA, two godsons, Gary Propersi, Paul Simonetti, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. from the Louis V. Ciuccio Funeral Home, 145 Moosic Road, Old Forge, followed by an 11:30 a.m. at the Prince of Peace Parish – St. Mary’s Church, 123 West Grace Street, Old Forge, PA.  Interment Old Forge Cemetery.
