Barbara Talarico, 83, of Old Forge, died peacefully Sunday at home surrounded by her family.  She was married to the late Joseph Talarico for 63 years.

Born in Utica, New York, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Dorothy Cave Wood.  She attended Duryea High School and was a member of Stewart United Methodist Church, Old Forge.

Barbara was a very devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was happiest spending time with her family and thought time spent with loved ones was her greatest gift.  She enjoyed accompanying her husband on long trips after his retirement and enjoyed traveling with family members.   She and her husband founded Talchrest Dairy Farms.  She had a great love for animals and took pride in caring for them with her children and grandchildren.  Barbara was the most compassionate woman who had a strong faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are five sons; Joseph (Jimbo) and wife Julie, Old Forge, James, Duryea, Matthew and wife Christine, Old Forge, Mark and wife Cathy, Pittston, Paul, Old Forge, seven daughters, Barbara Kersefski and husband Raymond, Old Forge, Marie Patchoski and husband Albert, Scranton, Karen Locatelli and husband Tom, Thornhurst, Cheryl Dando, Old Forge, Donna Bullaro and husband John, Scranton,  Debra Talarico, Old Forge, a brother, Walter Wood, Dickson City, a sister, Carolyn Witt, Maryland, 41 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Barbara was preceded in death by a son, William, a granddaughter, Lisa Morgan, a grandson, David Dando, a great-granddaughter, Paige Talarico, two brothers, William and Alfred Wood.

The funeral will Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the Louis V. Ciuccio Funeral Home, 145 Moosic Road, Old Forge, followed by a 10 a.m. services by Reverand Michael Shamboa at the Stewart United Methodist Church, 174 North Main Street, Old Forge.  Interment Old Forge Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
